Colleen Wilkens

MPT

I graduated from Marquette University in 1999 with a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy. I have focused my career treating orthopedic conditions utilizing a variety of manual therapy skills, patient education and exercise to help patients understand their bodies and move effectively to reach their goals. I enjoy treating a variety of orthopedic conditions, including surgical and non-surgical spine and extremity conditions, with special interest in sports medicine and treatment of athletes. I also enjoy running gait analysis and helping athletes return to sport.

Since 2011, I have expanded my practice to include comprehensive evaluation and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction. I'm passionate about helping women during and after pregnancy to understand their bodies and return to the activities they love while feeling good and specialize in treating pre-natal, post-natal, bowel and bladder dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis recti and pelvic pain issues.

I have also had the opportunity for advanced training in the following:  vocal cord dysfunction, temporal mandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, myofascial trigger point therapy, Graston Technique- instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, and custom foot orthotics consultation and fitting.

See me for: Generalized orthopedics, sport-specific training, return-to-sport, female pelvic floor issues, pre-natal and post-partum care, TMJ, orthotics fitting, post-operative care and vocal cord dysfunction.

Why I chose to become a PT: I love being with people, sports and activities, learning and teaching. This career allows me to be with a wide variety of people, problem solve, educate and work with people on their health and wellness.

My favorite food to cook/bake: Chicken Tiki Marsala

If I could visit anywhere in the world: Switzerland or the Galápagos Islands

When I am not at work, I am: spending time with my husband and three kids, working out at the gym, running, walking my dog, playing pickleball, golfing, boating, gardening, cooking, coaching or being a Girl Scout leader

Bucket List Confession: Being on the Amazing Race
