Jessica Meeusen

DPT

I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse with a Bachelors in Science in Exercise and Sport Science, as well as earning my Doctorate of Physical Therapy. While working on my undergraduate degree, I was on the collegiate gymnastics team. After my four years on the team, I became an assistant coach on the balance beam for four years. When I retired from gymnastics, I found Crossfit ... it was a perfect way to incorporate gymnastics skills as well as Olympic and power lifting into my workouts. I enjoyed it so much, I attained my Crossfit Level I Certification.

In addition to my DPT, I am certified in Functional Dry Needling through Evidence in Motion. I have a special interest in helping people with TMJ/jaw pain as well as treating a wide variety of orthopedics injuries.

I believe in patient-centered care with a hands-on approach to provide the best care to each individual patient. I am passionate about providing evidence-based care and giving my patients the tools and knowledge to achieve their individual goals and to live their best active lives.

See me for: TMJ/jaw pain, general orthopedic injuries, sports injuries (especially gymnastics),  orthopedic post operative care

Why I chose to be a physical therapist: My favorite subject in school was always science, especially anatomy and understanding the human body. Also, I always knew I wanted to be in the medical field to take care of people. As a gymnast for several years, I saw a lot of my teammates suffer with injuries as well as deal with nagging injuries myself. I was introduced to the rehabilitative process, which helped fueled my passion for helping people with pain and helping them get back to doing the activities they love. Physical therapy has given me the opportunity to pursue all of my interests.

Worst injury I ever suffered: My freshman year of high school I was practicing my dismount off the uneven bars and ended up landing with the high bar across the middle of my back. I hit the high bar so hard that it knocked the wind out of me. It took me several years to fully recover.

Craziest injury I have treated: I had a patient that was hit from behind by a pallet that had shifted while working on a cargo plane for the Air Force.

My favorite food to bake: cupcakes

If I could travel anywhere in the world: Either a river cruise around Europe or South Africa

When I’m not at work, I am: Spending time with my family, partaking in dog-friendly activities with my dog Kona, traveling, trying new restaurants, and attending concerts.

Bucket List Confession: Travel and eat food from all over the world.

Best advice I’ve ever received: Never give up. You are a walking resume.
